In my 100+ trips to Europe, I have learned quite a bit. I have learned how to save money and time on airfares, hotels, tours, meals, and transportation. But I never pinch pennies at the expense of comfort. For instance, I would not choose to save $200 on a flight if the savings meant that I would need multiple connections or endure 24+ hour flights over a direct flight. I would not choose to stay in a hostel outside of city limits over a centrally located comfortable hotel just to save 25 euros a night. Check out The Professor's practical travel tips to save time and money on your next international trip to Europe.
In my last blog post, I listed the most peaceful places to travel according to the Global Peace Index. Iceland continues to be the safest place in the world to travel. The United States is listed as #114, Italy as #38, Mexico as #142 and Peru as #71. In this blog post, we list the most dangerous countries in the world to travel to, according to The Global Peace Index.

Last month The Traveling Professor conducted the 2nd Annual Travel Survey where we asked all subscribers to our mailing list to answer 9 short questions. Some things did not change (we have about 80% women travelers and 20% men travelers) but there were a few surprises regarding The Traveling Professor's small group tours. Read the blog post to find out more how people responded to our travel questions.
I fly about 75,000 to 100,000 miles a year and have been doing so for the last 10 years or so. In general, I find airline employees to be hard-working, courteous, and very capable of doing a good job. However, it is the customer service policies of airlines, in this particular story, the bad customer service of British Airways, that makes you wonder if management is just out of touch, or just incredibly arrogant and dismissive. Read The Traveling Professor's story and we let you decide if British Airways has the worst customer service in the industry.
In our blog post yesterday, we examined how airline award miles have become devalued, are harder to redeem, and have added extra fees. Today we talk about accumulating points through credit card spending to help people fund their travel endeavors. So, check out The Traveling Professor's blog post on using points instead of airline reward miles.

The Traveling Professor's small group tours will be going to new destinations in the Fall of 2017. About 60% to 90% of those who have traveled with us before go on our trips. We're always looking for new and exciting places to go and we wanted to let you know what we have in the works for our small group tours in 2017.
We recently completed The Traveling Professor's annual travel survey. We already knew that about 80% of those who go on tours with us are women travelers. We found out on the survey that most of the people interested in our tours were women and they were in their 50's, 60's and 70's. We found out where and how women wanted their vacations to be. See our blog post to see what The Traveling Professor is doing to help plan women's vacations.
