Everyone loves to get upgraded when flying. There's more legroom, free drinks, better food, and it's just a heck of a lot nicer than getting stuck in coach. However, as we all know, upgraded seats can cost a lot of money. For instance a round trip flight in coach between JFK to Paris CDG on American Airlines in October runs $454 in coach. Upgrade to first class on your own and it will cost $4,992. So, who wouldn't want to get upgraded for free? But in general, airlines are stingy. However, they are exceptionally stingy when it comes to giving away upgraded seats. In today's blog post, The Professor gives some tips on how to get that "free" upgrade.

Let's talk about throw away tickets, the advantages, disadvantages, and possible penalties of using this travel strategy.
There is little rhyme or reason on why airlines price airfares the way they do. I'm not sure if anyone can figure it out. However, there are some things that can be counted on. In this blog post, The Traveling Professor goes over some very basic pointers to take into consideration when purchasing international airfares. These tips will help the traveler save time, save money and relieve some of the confusing issues surrounding the purchase of international airfares.

The Traveling Professor just got back from a 42-day trip. We did a small group tour to Scotland. We also traveled with a small group to Paris and the Normandy Invasion Beaches. Check out The Traveling Professor's blog post for more details.
