By far, the most popular travel spots for The Traveling Professor tours are France and Italy. They offer great food, culture, art, and natural beauty. However, it is a big, big world. There are other places to see that frankly, travelers may like MORE than the traditional spots. Denmark, Norway and Iceland have not been on the radar for many travelers for a variety of reasons. They might not be familiar with what to see or do. Scandinavia has the reputation of high prices. But take a look at today's blog post and see why a trip to Denmark, Iceland and Norway may be in your future.
When The Traveling Professor exhibited and spoke at The New York Times Travel Show in New York City, and appeared on The Rudy Maxa travel radio program, the recurring question was "Do you bring your small group tours to Iceland?". Well of course we do. But there is so much more than just a trip to Iceland. With IcelandAir's free stopover program, add on a trip to Norway and Denmark for the full Scandinavian experience. But whey are people going to Iceland, Norway and Denmark. Read my blog post to find out why.
On our small group tours to Paris, Italy, Norway, Austria and Germany, and Peru, part of the travel experience is the food. It is ALL good. But what's the best? Every country has wonderful food. But which country has the best food? Everyone is going to have their own opinions but in this blog post, The Traveling Professor gives his opinion on which country has the best food.
Whenever I mention a tour to Norway, Denmark, Iceland or any other Nordic countries, people tell me right off the bat, "too expensive, I'm not going there". While it is true, food can be expensive in these Nordic countries, in the end, it can be cheaper than you think for a GOOD Nordic vacation without cutting corners. See my blog post and get in on a real travel bargain.
We really do something special here at The Traveling Professor.
It is hard to believe that I have been taking people on small group tours since 2009. We started running strictly "budget" trips but as time went by, we kept upgrading and upgrading to the point where we use nothing less than quality 3-star deluxe hotels on all our regular tours, we have professional guides, limo pickup at the airport regardless of time of arrival, VIP no-wait-in-line admission. Our small group size lets us into places where no other tour goes and no guide book will tell you about. For instance, the ancient ruins you can get up close to an personal with in Rome, the restaurants only known by locals, the artisans in Florence that only WE get into to see, in Iceland we go off the beaten path for lunch at a dairy farm, and in Peru we hike the REAL Inca trail, not the one you always see on TV. To find out where The Professor is going in 2016 and to find out how you can come along, read today's blog post.
We took 12 travelers on The Traveling Professor's inaugural tour to Norway and Iceland. We were blessed by good weather even if the temperatures were a little cool. With our adventure in Copenhagen and Oslo over, our next phase of the journey involved going to the fjords of Flam then over to the seaside in Bergen.
The Traveling Professor inaugurated a small group tour to Norway and Iceland on June 11. We took 12 adult travelers from all over the Americas including Atlanta, Philadelphia, Northern Virginia, Chicago, Los Angeles, the New York area and even Uruguay. We embarked on a 9-night, 10 day tour to Oslo, Flam, Bergen, and Iceland. See my blog post report on the Oslo portion of The Traveling Professor's small group tour to Norway and Iceland.
Last August, The Traveling Professor floated the idea of taking small groups of travelers to Norway and Iceland. Within a few days, the first tour was sold out. I added another tour and that was sold out in a matter of weeks. Norway and Iceland are two of the most exciting destinations right now and I am even more excited to be going on a small group tour to explore and enjoy these Nordic treasures. Take a look at the blog post to see our planned itinerary and follow our fun on The Professor's Facebook page.
I ran my first tour back in 1992 to Spain. Since then, I have seen a lot change in the travel business. One thing I could always rely upon was that travel was going to get more and more expensive each year - until now. I can remember traveling to Paris in the 1990's and easily be able to afford luxury hotels. Airfares were dirt cheap. Italy was a bargain for Americans. Then in the 2000's things began to change. But let the good times roll again! It is time to go back to Europe and I will tell you why.
The travel landscape is going to change in 2015 perhaps more than in any year in memory. There are changes in currency, airfare issues, security issues, problems with crowds and prices. Norway is emerging as a favored destination on The Traveling Professor's small group tours and we are going to tell you why you should consider a tour to Norway in 2015.
