How To Plan a Budget Trip to Paris or France

Don't Be Cheap, Be Frugal

Our Traveling Professorbudget tours in paris and italy tours are not budget tours, and with the exception of one tour we run, they are not super-luxury tours either. On our Traveling Professor tours we like to stay at good 3 or 4 star hotels in a central location that are a good value.  But some people, when traveling on their own, like to plan a budget tour.  Here are some of my ideas for saving money without sacrificing comfort.

Where is The Professor Going in 2016?

Our Tours for 2016

steve solosky traveling professorWe really do something special here at The Traveling Professor.

It is hard to believe that I have been taking people on small group tours since 2009.  We started running strictly "budget" trips but as time went by, we kept upgrading and upgrading to the point where we use nothing less than quality 3-star deluxe hotels on all our regular tours, we have professional guides, limo pickup at the airport regardless of time of arrival, VIP no-wait-in-line admission.  Our small group size lets us into places where no other tour goes and no guide book will tell you about.  For instance, the ancient ruins you can get up close to an personal with in Rome, the restaurants only known by locals, the artisans in Florence that only WE get into to see, in Iceland we go off the beaten path for lunch at a dairy farm, and in Peru we hike the REAL Inca trail, not the one you always see on TV.   To find out where The Professor is going in 2016 and to find out how you can come along, read today's blog post.

Take the Bus, Not the Metro

In Paris and Rome, It's the Way to Go!

is bus better than metroGenerally, there are two forms of public transportation in most cities, the bus and the metro.  In Paris, the metro is as sophisticated as can be found.   In Rome, for now there are only 2 metro lines so the buses are much more widely used.  But on any tour to Paris or to Rome, I always prefer using the bus, and I will tell you why in this special Paris and Rome travel blog post.
