If you ask me, anytime is a good time to travel to Paris. I have been there all four seasons and each one has it's advantages. In today's blog post, I break down the benefits of traveling during different times of the year and leave it up to you for the best time to travel to Paris.
Our Traveling Professor tours are not budget tours, and with the exception of one tour we run, they are not super-luxury tours either. I just got back from leading a small group tour to Paris with 7 travelers. Our itinerary included a Seine River cruise, Versailles, Notre Dame, Conciergerie, Sainte Chapelle, Rodin Museum, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Louvre, Orsay, Orangerie, Montmartre, and the Marais. It is hard to believe that I have been taking people on small group tours since 2009. We started running strictly "budget" trips but as time went by, we kept upgrading and upgrading to the point where we use nothing less than quality 3-star deluxe hotels on all our regular tours, we have professional guides, limo pickup at the airport regardless of time of arrival, VIP no-wait-in-line admission. Our small group size lets us into places where no other tour goes and no guide book will tell you about. For instance, the ancient ruins you can get up close to an personal with in Rome, the restaurants only known by locals, the artisans in Florence that only WE get into to see, in Iceland we go off the beaten path for lunch at a dairy farm, and in Peru we hike the REAL Inca trail, not the one you always see on TV. Generally, there are two forms of public transportation in most cities, the bus and the metro. In Paris, the metro is as sophisticated as can be found. In Rome, for now there are only 2 metro lines so the buses are much more widely used. But on any tour to Paris or to Rome, I always prefer using the bus, and I will tell you why in this special Paris and Rome travel blog post.
