Today is the 74th anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. The Traveling Professor just completed a small group tour to the Normandy Invasion Beaches with 12 travelers. There are quite a few ways to do a tour of the Normandy Invasion Beaches. Some people do it as a one-day big bus tour from Paris, some people do a self-drive tour, some people hire a private guide. Then, there is the issue of how many days to spend on the beaches and where to stay. The Professor gives his opinion on all of this with today's blog post on how to do a D Day tour of the Normandy Invasion Beaches.
We just completed 2 small group tours to Paris. Each group had 7 travelers and we completed our "Paris Beyond the Eiffel Tower Tour". Our guide, the well-known Michael Osman, took us past the typical tourist destinations of Paris and opened our eyes to lesser-known but wonderful sites like the Musée Jacquemart-André, Musée Nissim de Camondo, Parc Monceau, a walk through the passages of Paris, and the Musée National Eugène-Delacroix. An important part of each day on our small group tours of Paris was lunch. In today's blog post I will point out 3 bargain lunches in Paris, 2 of them at some of the most elegant locations to be found.
Anyone who travels to Paris knows that lodging can be very expensive. I have been traveling to Paris well over 20 years and probably have made nearly 100 trips to the City of Light. Over the years I have uncovered some 2-star hotels that are well worth staying in. These hotels listed below have charm and style, but best of all, the price is right. They are well-located and offer a stay in Paris that will not soon be forgotten. Try one of them on your next tour to Paris.
The Traveling Professor has been going to Paris and Italy for at least 20 years now. In that time, he has seen a lot. Although France and Italy are very safe to travel to, and rarely will there be any violent crime, travelers still need to be aware of annoying petty crimes. In this blog post, The Professor goes over some of the most common scams and how to avoid them.
I don't know about you, but my favorite activity in Paris is to have lunch! After many small group tours to Paris, I have found some of the best Paris lunch spots that I am sure any traveler would enjoy. Some are very simple, one or two are on the elegant side. In any case, a visit to one of these Paris lunch spots may be the best part of your next trip to Paris
On The Traveling Professor's small group tours to Paris, a trip is not complete unless we take a cruise. Just about everyone knows about the Seine River cruise but there are other options too. In today's blog post, The Professor will tell you about the best cruises to take while visiting Paris as well as the best time of day to take them. The Traveling Professor will also give you a tip on a cruise to avoid. Bon Voyage!
One of my favorite tours is The Traveling Professor's Small Group Tour to Paris and the Normandy Invasion Beaches. We have made several trips there as part of my regular tours and we were proud to run an exclusive tour for the National D-Day Memorial in 2017. We base ourselves close to the invasion beaches in a quaint Norman town called Bayeux. The food is exquisite and in today's blog post I have posted my restaurant recommendations for Bayeux.
One of the primary and most expensive costs of vacationing in Paris is the cost of hotels. Everyone wants a hotel that is clean, quiet and comfortable. Location is also of prime importance too. Here are 3 selections by The Traveling Professor for good and cheap Paris hotel choices. Check them out on your next trip to Paris.
Paris has something for everyone. There is food, culture, history, nightlife, architecture, and more. And for something else, check out the last resting places of people and their pets. In today's blog post I have listed several places of interest that you might not go to on your first trip to Paris, but are definitely interesting and enjoyable.
We just got back from another small group tour to Paris. After waving goodbye to our 8 guests, I had the opportunity to check out some new hotels. 2 of them were further out in more residential, leafy sections of town, and another one was right in the center of all the action. Check out my blog post to find out more about my recommendations for hotels in Paris.
