The Traveling Professor took their inaugural small group tour to Croatia last year.  We have another small group tour scheduled this year and 2 more small group tours to Croatia scheduled in 2019.

Croatia is turning out to be one of the hottest destinations.  In fact, Croatia is experiencing one of the fastest growth rates as a tourist destination and now may be the time to go before it gets overcrowded and expensive.

In touring Croatia, The Traveling Professor recommends:

Do a land tour from Zagreb to include the Pitlivice Lake region.  It's a national park full of hiking trails, terraced lakes, and waterfalls.  The summer is high season but if done in May or October, there will be less crowds.

Cruise the Islands:  This is the best tip The Traveling Professor can give you.  Avoid a crowded land tour of the busiest cities, Split and Dubrovnik.  We do it in a 32-passenger ship departing and arriving back at Split.  We visit Hvar, Bol, Korcula, Dubrovnik and Split.  The advantage of doing a cruise is that it is incredibly relaxing and the ship ports at these incredibly beautiful islands, making it easy for all.  One of my favorite activities on our cruises was the daily swim stop in the blue-green Adriatic waters.

Croatia is going to become more accessible.  Major carriers like American Airlines have announced direct seasonal flights into Dubrovnik.

The Professor's advice:  get to Croatia before the great masses of tourists discover it!
