Here are The Traveling Professor's picks for two inexpensive hotels in Florence.
Hotel Alessandra Hotel Alessandra is a clean and simple two star hotel in the hustle and bustle of the Ponte Vecchio crowd. The facility’s rooms are located on multiple floors of a building built in 1507. Most rooms have extra steps leading up to the door and the elevator is only available after guests take the first 30 steps from the ground level, making it inaccessible for handicap guests. Hotel Alessandra has undergone multiple renovations (recent ones included, not only a few since the 1500s) and has soundproof windows which is necessary for its location. The rooms are versatile and the hotel can accommodate singles up to family rooms and suites. Though the decorations are sparse, Hotel Alessandra still offers a nostalgic feeling with antique typewriters in multiple common areas. It’s a bit on the old-fashioned side - but that’s why some people like it. Website: http://www.hotelcasci.com/ Address: Via Camillo Cavour, 13
