We are staying in the Miraflores area of Lima. It is filled with plenty of upper-class homes. There are plenty of good restaurants. We dined among the Inca ruins at Huaca Pucllana our first night, had lunch at a terrific Italian trattoria, and followed up with a buffet with a folkloric dance show.
Lima is an oceanfront city, reminding me very much of Southern California. Palm trees, volleyball players, and surfers cram the beaches.
The history of Peru is rich. We visited the Cathedral of Lima, the Plaza de Armas and the beautiful Convent of Santo Domingo which pays rich homage to St. Rose of Lima.
The highlight is the Larco Museum. It is in a beautiful building. The artifacts on display clearly tell the story of the history of ancient peoples in Peru and open our travelers eyes to the beauty of this wonderful city.
