On The Traveling Professor's small group tours to Italy, Rome is one of our favorite spots to eat. Take a look at 3 of The Traveling Professor's favorite places to eat while in the classic city of Rome:

There are many, many places to eat in Rome. Here are The Traveling Professor's favorites on our small group tours to Rome:

Target:  An unusual name for an Italian restaurant, but our group was surprised by the good quality, excellent service, and the value. The wine selections were excellent, and at excellent prices. It is more on the modern side, but a good option for quality dining at a lower price. Give it a shot!

Ristorante Da Pacrazio:  This place is authentic, authentic, authentic.  Wonderful fresh pasta and dishes as well as meat dishes, it can be on the pricey side.  But where else can you eat where Julia Roberts ate while filming "Eat, Pray, Love".   The dining room upstairs is elegant but rarely do I recommend eating downstairs in a restaurant, however, Da Pancrazio is situated over the spot where Julius Caesar was murdered, over the Theater of Pompeii ruins.

Mercato Centrale:  Following up on the trendy food halls that have sprung up in other cities like Florence, we really love going to the Mercato Centrale.  Although it can be tough to find a seat, there are well over a dozen vendors selling fish dishes, tasty burgers, gelato, bread, cheese, vegetarian dishes.  It's got something for everyone.
