Here are 2 picks for restaurants in Florence, by The Traveling Professor:

Trattoria Bordino
Never mind that this restaurant is the setting from scenes from the book, “The Monster of Florence”, which some say inspired the infamous Hannibal Lecter character from “Silence of the Lambs”.  No worries, dining here is like “having an old friend over for dinner”.  Skip the “liver and fava beans” and try the savory risotto.  “People will say we’re in love” with the grilled salmon and the 12 euro bistecca alla Fiorentina and they’re right, we are.  “All good things to those who wait” which of course means, that the desserts are outstanding.  I don’t think I’ve ever had a better tiramisu. “See ya ‘round” at Bordino.

Trattoria La Casalinga
When we asked our local Florentine guide where she wanted to eat, she brought us here.  Right near the Basilica Santo Spirito, this hip and trendy spot is blessed with great food and service.  Perfect for salads and pasta for a quick or not-so-quick lunch.
