On our small group tour to the Christmas Markets of Austria, we stayed in Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck, all of them 4-star hotels.  Here are The Traveling Professor's review of those hotels.

Review of Hotel AM Konzerthaus Vienna:   Vienna has about 40 Christmas Markets so it is important to find a centrally located hotel with good transportation connections.  The 4-star Hotel AM Konzerthaus fits the bill and more.  It is different than the typical hotels selected by The Traveling Professor in that it is not a family-owned, smaller hotel.  But the hotel is welcoming, the rooms are ample in size and comfortable.  We loved the breakfast and the friendly service provided by the staff.

Review of the Hotel Elefant in Salzburg:  In our opinion, Salzburg is the most beautiful and "Christmasy" city in Austria. We wanted a smaller hotel located right in the middle of the charming Old Town to max out on the Christmas spirit.   An older but very well kept-up property, it was perfect for our 3-night stay there.   Although it lacked a large lobby for our small group to meet in, we loved the breakfast room and attentive service.

Review of the Hotel Innsbruck:  This was our first stay at this hotel.  It was Tyrolean hospitality at its best. We loved that the owners were on-site and available at this surprisingly large hotel located right in the middle of all the action.  Rooms had an inviting warmth and style about them.  Breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed at on our small group tour to Austria. Bring your bathing suit for the heated pool, you will love it!
