Here are some simple and practical passport tips:
Never Carry a Passport When Touring: In Europe, there is no need to have a passport with you while touring. The only person that needs your passport is the thief who would love to steal it.
Carry a Passport COPY: And keep a copy in a safe place back at the hotel. On the back of the passport copy, write contact information at home, any medical conditions, prescriptions, and hotel information. This info is used in case of a medical emergency and will not only help with treatment, but expedites the access to medical treatment. The probability is that it will never be needed, but if it is, it could be a lifesaver.
Email Yourself a Passport Copy: In case of loss or theft, it is always better to try to replace it if there is a copy.
