Here are some quick and easy airfare booking tips from The Traveling Professor
You Have 24 Hours to Change/Cancel Flights: That's right. Most airlines provide the opportunity to change or cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking without additional fees.
Use a Credit Card for Travel Insurance: There are some good credit cards out there providing travel interruption, travel health, and trip cancellation insurance (see my blog posts on Travel Tips).
Get Paper Tickets, Not Electronic Tickets: In case of flight cancellations or changes, it is much easier to document an insurance claim with paper documents.
Book from Airline Website, NOT Sites Like Expedia or Orbitz: It's OK to use other search engines to find flights, but you really want to book directly with the airline. That way, if there is an issue with tickets or changes, it eliminates one more layer of bureaucracy to solve any problems.
