On our first tour I meet a group of eight in Cusco.  While you do see The Traveling Professor offering tours to everyone, we do some private tours for groups also.  This first tour is a private tour to Peru and here is the itinerary:

Day 1:  Meet in Cusco.  Relax, take it easy and acclimate to the 13,000 foot altitude.  We will do a short walking tour of Cusco and have dinner at Restaurant ChiCha, one of the best in Peru.  We'll be staying in the Belmond Monasterio Hotel.

Day 2:  We'll do a private guided tour of Cusco and the surrounding areas.

Day 3:  We head out to Aguas Calientes on one of the most spectacular train rides to be experienced.  We arrive at Machu Picchu and stay at the the luxurious Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel.  After lunch, we head up to Machu Picchu for a half day guided tour.

Day 4:  I'll wake up early in the morning and prepare everyone for one of the most amazing experiences they will ever have - Sunrise at Machu Picchu.  It is a stunning short hike up the Inka Trail to the Sun Gate.  The view over the Machu Picchu citadel as the sun rises is truly a breathtaking experience that will not be forgotten.

Day 6:  We head back by train and travel through the Sacred Valley.

Day 7:  By plane, we fly to Puerto Maldonado.  Upon arrival we take a canoe down the river to the Inkaterra Hacienda Lodge in the jungle. This is one of the most luxurious lodges I have ever stayed in - no roughing it here.

Day 8:  It's a full day of activities in the jungle:  hiking, fishing, bird watching, river tours and more.

Day 9:  We head back to Lima in the afternoon after a great tour.

I will be reporting on my small group tour to the "next Machu Picchu", the Chachapoyas.   Watch this website and my Facebook page.
