On The Traveling Professor's small group tours to Paris, we prefer to stay in the Latin Quarter. However, here are The Professor's picks for bargain hotels near the Eiffel Tower. I suggest contacting these hotels directly and ask for a discount. Tourism is down in Paris and hotel owners are willing to talk to get your business.
Hôtel du Champ de Mars. 3 stars. 7, rue du Champ de Mars; 7th arrondissement near the Eiffel Tower and rue Cler close to the École Militaire métro. Now that the renovations are done to elevate it to 3-star status, grab a room here if you can. At €120 or so per night, it is a good value. Website: www.hotelduchampdemars.com. Hôtel Muguet. 3 stars. 11, rue Chevert; 7th arrondissement. Close the shades at night or be kept awake by the lights of the Eiffel Tower. If you must stay near the ET, this is the place for about 150-200 euros a night. Website: www.hotelmuguet.com. Hôtel de la Tour Eiffel. Dream away in the shadow of the ET. Cute but small rooms just a 5-minute walk from the Tower and near some of my favorite restaurants on rue Saint-Dominique. Rates range from 90-150 euros. Located on a quiet side street at 17, rue de l'Exposition in the 7th. Website: www.hotel-toureiffel.com.
