Paris fashion is the most exciting and sophisticated in the world. Here are The Professor's picks for the best fashion spots:
Avenue Montaigne
Métro: Franklin D. Roosevelt. Bus: 42, 80.
The "Miracle Mile" of Paris, this street is the home of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani, Prada, and Christian Dior, this is one of the most fashionable (and expensive) streets in the world. It doesn't cost anything to look!
Galeries Lafayette Department Store
Métro: Chaussée d'Antin - La Fayette, Trinité or Opéra. Bus: 20, 21, 22, 42, 53, 68, 81, 95.
More than a department store, it's an experience. Top Paris fashion as well as more moderate brands take up this massive department store near the Opera in Paris. Like everything else, the French make shopping into an event full of color, style, and in this case, excitement.
Musée Galliera
Métro: Iléna. Bus: 32, 72, 80, 92.
An interesting museum, always busy during Fashion Week. The question posed by the museum is "who wears what?". The exhibits are always changing and there is no permanent display. However, the museum will feature haute couture to 18-the century dresses to undergarments to accessories. A great stop on a ladies tour to Paris.
Editor's note: The Traveling Professor is running a ladies only tour to Paris in 2017. For more information on our women's only tour to Paris, click HERE.
