The Traveling Professor has been taking small group tours to Norway, Denmark and Iceland for two years now.  One of the big reasons is because of the relative bargain airfares to this part of Europe as opposed to places like France or Italy.

You know the airline must be doing something right when US carriers complain about it being "unfair".

How low are the airfares on Norwegian?  Well under $1,000 (even closer to $600-$700) for R/T service from several major airports in the US to major airports in Europe like Copenhagen and London.   Like to fly premium class?  You can do it on Norwegian for about the same as coach on the major airlines.

This is what The Professor likes about Norwegian Air:

  • Low fares.  Coach fares are low but check out those fares for premium class too.
  • Rewards program
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • One of the newest and greenest fleets in the world, featuring the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
  • Flies from JFK, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Baltimore BWI, Boston, Las Vegas, Oakland, Orlando to many European destinations such as London, Copenhagen, Paris.
  • Professional crew

The disadvantages of flying Norwegian Air:

  • Limited service from US and lack of US partner.  So, if flying from a small US city not served by Norwegian, it is up to the traveler to book a separate flight into a city served by Norwegian.
  • Schedule can be seasonal.  In other words, service to certain cities might be reduced during non-peak travel times.
