Here are The Traveling Professor's picks for essential tech devices for the traveler:

Here are my top picks for the best electronic devices available for travelers:

The fact is that more than 24 million bags are lost, delayed, stolen, or damaged by airlines each year.  Nothing can ruin a vacation quicker by not having luggage show up a destination.

If checking luggage is an absolute necessity, I recommend get one of two GPS luggage trackers.  LugLoc is easy to use.  Place in luggage and track it with a cellphone app.

Airlines charge for everything, even entertainment.  I never travel without my Amazon Kindle, loaded up with movies and books.  It’s inexpensive, small and light, and along with Amazon Prime membership, it is a great bargain.

That leads to headphones.  But on a flight, especially overseas, noise-cancelling headphones are a necessity.  We like the Plane Quiet Active Noise Cancelling Headphones.  Never complain about crying babies again!

And lastly, if traveling overseas, it is going to be necessary to keep all those electronic devices charged.   The simple, easy and cheap choice is the LOOP Travel Adapter.
