The Traveling Professor is certainly not an economist, but I have seen how currency fluctuations have made traveling to Europe more and more expensive over the years. A common excuse for someone not traveling to Europe was that "it is too expensive - I will wait for prices to come down". Well, now prices have come down.
For those countries that take the euro (Paris, Spain, Italy, Ireland, for instance) prices have come down about 20% since last year at this time. That means the costs of trains, meals, and hotels have declined too.
For those countries like Norway, which used the Krone, prices have come down even more. Since they are an oil-based economy, their currency has suffered even more. Travelers can expect more than a 20% decline in prices.
