Full credit to my friend, Johnny Jet (www.johnnyjet.com) for tipping me off on this credit card deal.

Here are the details on the US Airways Barclays Master Card:

  • $89 annual fee
  • 50,000 bonus award miles upon payment of $89 annual fee and first purchase
  • First checked bag free (domestic) for you and up to 4 companions
  • Companion certificate for up to two guests.  Each certificate costs $99 plus taxes and fees
  • Zone 2 priority boarding
  • Complimentary 1 day pass to club lounge
  • 25% savings on in-flight purchases (headsets, beverages, meals)
  • Receive 10% of redeemed miles back (available 2nd quarter of 2015)
  • Get $100 travel certificate when spending $30,000 (available 2nd quarter of 2015)

My comments:

It's a great deal.  The only drawback I saw when applying for the card was that it had a 3% foreign transaction fee.  However, after I completed the application, it said that the foreign transaction fee for my card was waived. I am not sure if they do that for every accepted application.  The application process took about 15 minutes and was easy to do.  I was also able to get a 2nd card for my companion.

As you probably know, US Airways will complete its merger with American Airlines in 2015.   All of these benefits will be transferable to American Airlines.
