Although I have never gone on a Rick Steves Paris tour, I am sure they are terrific.   However, since I sometimes get questions on the difference between my general Paris tour and his Paris tours, here is a comparison of the major points:

I think the major differences on Rick Steves' Paris tours and The Traveling Professor's are as follows:

  • Number of Hotel Nights:  Rick Steves has 6.  The Traveling Professor has 7.
  • Itinerary:  The Traveling Professor's tours are one day longer and include extra attractions.
  • Limo Pickup:  The Traveling Professor tours have private limo pickup at the airport
  • Travelers:  Rick Steves has twice the number of travelers and will take children whereas The Professor's tours to Paris are for adults only and only about 12-14 travelers are on each tour.
  • Price:  Rick Steves tours are less expensive in terms of the base price, however the single supplement is significantly higher.
  • Free Stuff:  On a Rick Steves tour you get phrase book, money belt, and earplugs.  The Traveling Professor does not give you these items.
  • Meals:  Rick Steves' includes half the dinners.  The Professor does not.

Rick Steves probably runs a great tour, but they are different from The Traveling Professor.
