The antiquated charm of France and Europe is alive and well in Montréal and Québec City.  These two delightful cities have an enchanting past waiting for you to experience now.  Their rich French heritage is ever-present, from the language to the food to the cobblestone streets.  Cosmopolitan Montréal features pockets of old-world France scattered about. The only walled-in city in North America, Québec City seems to be more European than almost any city across the Atlantic.

Join our small group of 12-16 travelers on this magical Traveling Professor small group tour to Montréal and Québec City.

The Traveling Professor Presents an Inaugural Tour

Christmas Markets of Montréal & Québec City

Starts Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Québec City

This is the Christmas fondly remembered, from years gone by.  The outdoor markets with hand-made wooden toys, ornaments and local crafts. The sound of carolers, brass bands and horse-drawn wagons clip-clopping their way on the snow-dusted cobblestones.  The beautifully decorated town squares are lined with glowing Christmas trees.  Enjoy a bratwurst, pretzel, or gingerbread cookie.  All of this and a cup of hot chocolate will warm your heart as it did when you were a child.

The Traveling Professor is proud to present the Montréal & Québec City, full of nostalgia and holiday spirit. Top hotels, a delightful itinerary, fully guided with plenty of opportunity to shop and explore on your own.  This is the way to celebrate the yuletide season.  It’s here, waiting just for you.

About the Hotels
The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montréal is a luxury hotel located in the center of the city.  It reopened in 2017 after a $140 million renovation.  The hotel itself has a food hall, coffee shop, pool, and exercise room. It is near everything and in fact, it is located on top of the underground rail station.

The Fairmont Château Frontenac is the most photographed hotel in the world, dramatically perched over the St. Lawrence River.  Travelers on our 2019 small group tour were just blown away by it's stature, luxury, location, and hospitality.  There is a pool, workout room, great bars and restaurants.  It is rich in history as in guests like Churchill, FDR, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Grace of Monaco and you.

Important Notes
  • A minimum of 2-4 hours per day are spent either walking or standing up. In order to fully enjoy your experience with us, we ask that our guests be able to walk and be on their feet for several hours at a time both inside and outside and in various weather conditions; be prepared to walk up ramps and slightly inclined terrain and/or several flights of stairs at a time; and carry or transport their luggage over cobblestone streets.  This tour is not recommended for those with mobility issues.
  • Dinners are not included in the cost of the trip.  However,  moderately priced restaurants are selected each night for dinner.  Please come and join us.  We split the bill and pay only for what you ordered.
  • Although every trip is different, we usually have a good mix of solo and accompanied travelers.  No one ever feels like a "third wheel".  If you are a solo traveler, you will instantly have several new travel friends.  We are happy to tell you beforehand how many solo travelers are on the trip.
  • The Professor welcomes your questions by email or phone (413.528.2125).  You will know what to expect and how to prepare for the tour.  The Professor will be happy to help you plan an air itinerary.
